Job Summary:
The Senior BI Analyst is a role with a focus in three areas: Data Governance/Stewardship, Requirements Development, and Advanced Data Analytics. This position is fully proficient in applying established standards and he/she has the knowledge base acquired from several years of experience in the area of Business Analytics. They work independently and mentor/coach other professionals. He/she acts as the lead in important projects in providing business analytics as subject matter expert. This position requires strong competency in financial, business, quality, human resource and other analytical skills with a focus on performance metrics. They will have strong statistical, mathematical and visualization skills. This role will analyze complex data and transform to relevant information that helps lead transformational results. In addition this role will serve to lead data governance and enforce processes.
Preferred experience includes expert in healthcare operations or healthcare support. They demonstrate skills in clinical analysis and process improvements. They have at least five years of relevant experience and a bachelor degree. MBA preferred. Effectiveness of this position shall be measured in terms of assisting leadership to achieve financial and other targets, high quality output, and customer service satisfaction.
Job Functions and Duties:
Data and Business Analytics
Facilitate workshop with purpose of assembling requirements document with business sign-off.
Consults with customers to for agreement of need of the request and the estimated time to go live. Produces professional dashboard, reports, scorecards and other analytical tools with the highest quality and with well documented assumptions.
Proficient in analytical tools such as Tableau, R, Python, SQL (query based tools) and advanced Microsoft Excel
Provides support for inquiries or issues related to improvement. Researches, diagnoses and resolves problems and escalates when appropriate.
Applies appropriate tests to analytical results to provide high quality and accurate results
Lead in data interpretation, communication and presentations around key performance indicators
Facilitates gap analysis and transforming data into useful information
Uses tools and best practice to scour through enormous amounts of information to find the salient points
Identifies relevant patterns to inform operation and strategic planning
Builds quantitative models to provide scenarios to decision makers
Partners with operations to education on tools and best practice and assist in discovering actionable information.
Mentors Associate and Intermediate level analysts
Helps refine and enforce EMHS visualization standards.
Structure and Governance
Lead support, in the implementation and initial system support of business intelligence, decision support and communication applications
Designs and supports the classification structure to make complex process understandable
Facilitate metric development helping customer choose metrics that measure their progress.
Optimization of conversion of clinical/business objects from one state to another
Refine analytical request process to be optimal for customer and analyst
Facilitate standardization and definition planning discussions in task forces and working groups
Communicates status updates, feedback, areas of improvements based on review strengths and weaknesses relating to business processing generally at a department level.
Provides support for inquiries or issues related to tools. May assist with research, diagnosis and help resolve problems and escalates to director as needed
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years of experience in a relevant technical, analytical or statistics role OR associate's degree and at least nine (9) years of experience in a relevant technical, analytical or statistics role OR high school diploma/GED and at least thirteen (13) years of experience in a relevant technical, analytical or statistics role is required.
Master's Degree, especially in Business Adminisration, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Relevant operational experience and procedural knowledge is required and have mastered advanced concepts. Experience with EMHS Software, data and business information is desired. Relevant certifications are required. Exceptional customer service skills required used to increase customer satisfaction. Five or more years of experience researching, identifying and resolving technical issues. Lean trained is preferred. Knowledge of business analysis techniques is required. Ability to interpret technical information into non-technical context so operation staff can better understand is preferred. Creative and "outside of the box" problem solver is necessary for this position.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft software knowledge and ability to train/assist end-users.
Gathers and analyzes information skillfully, develops alternative solutions, works well in group problem-solving situations, and uses reason when dealing with emotional topics. Since this position will interact with senior and executive level personnel, it is expected that the candidate will speak clearly and persuasively in a variety of situations. Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schematic form.

Typical Contacts (Internal/External)
Works as part of a team but is also involved with interaction outside of the department when educating and supporting customers. Works with system members to help them achieve their best practice process goals. Occasional travel to other sites in the EMHS System will be required.
Physical Requirements
Manual dexterity and ability to use both hands in a repetitive manner. Requires a stationary position for 80% of the work day. Dexterity with use of computer keyboard and writing implements. Must be able to work in an open office environment and possesses visual and hearing acuity necessary to discern information from the telephone, computer, printed forms, written and oral instructions from coworkers and others. Light lifting of files and manuals with some bending to file.
The employee is required to operate a computer keyboard and monitor (including laptop computers).
The employee must have a valid driver's license and possess his or her own transportation, or be able to make alternative transportation arrangements with reasonable notice. Travel to our different EMHS facilities and occasional overnight stay is required. Travel expenses and mileage reimbursement will be made in accordance with standard EMHS policies in effect at the time the expenses are incurred. The employee may also be expected to travel to conferences and/or training workshops both in and out-of-state as required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
